Sageworks was started on January 6, 1998, by Sarah Tourville (now retired) and
Brian Hamilton. The two met while Brian was teaching a course in
financial analysis at Duke University. From its inception in 1998, the company's
mission was to increase the rate of business success by giving people
information they can understand and use.
Sageworks was a development firm for its first two years, a period
marked by long hours to develop a commercially-relevant financial analysis
application. The company came to market in late 1999, and ProfitCents was the
flagship product of Sageworks. Two major milestones were reached when Andrew White
joined Sageworks in 2001 and Scott Ogle joined in 2002. Since then, Sageworks
has signed thousands of accounting firms and financial institutions, which
rely on our technology for helping their customers and for making more informed
business decisions.
SAGEWORKS GROWTH TIMELINE

WHAT WE DO
Sageworks was founded to help people make better decisions. Implied in the
effort to gather financial data is that the data is useful. We believe
data is only valuable to the extent it can be understood and used.
Our mission is to convert hard-to-understand financial data into
easy-to-understand language. By doing so, we hope to eventually
increase the success rate of businesses in the world.
Our Patented "FIND" Engine Technology - Patent Number 6,968,316
“Systems, Methods, and Computer Program Products for Producing Narrative
Financial Analysis Reports.”

WHO WE ARE
Sageworks values substance over form; we are about creating value for customers
and shareholders, which means we are focused on getting results. When we
started our company, we wanted to create a special place that would not be
limited by the ordinary ways people tend to think about business. Therefore, we
have a core set of values that extend into everything we say and do each day:
Create real value in the world. Help people succeed by giving them
information they understand. We are here to truly help people make better
financial decisions. We believe that people fail at least partially because
they cannot always understand the financial information they possess. We are
solving this problem. We think about this every day.
Stay focused on the customer. The company exists to create value in the
market, which can only be measured by serving customer goals.
We are here to serve rather than be served.
Help employees meet their goals and dreams. We recognize there is a
hidden line of separation between owners/managers of any company and the people
who get the work done. We try hard to minimize this by making everyone a
stockholder in Sageworks. We also try hard to listen to people and help them
reach their dreams.
Treat shareholders as real partners. We honor the people and companies
who have invested in Sageworks. We are open and honest with investors - as open
as we are with the people whom we work with each day. The reward is an overall
feeling that the company will do right by people.
